Indian Olympic gold medallist and retired shooter, Abhinav Bindra, congratulated the Indian men’s hockey team for clinching the inaugural FIH Hockey 5s championship.

India made a stunning comeback from being three-goals down to beat Poland 6-4 on Sunday.

“Congratulations to Indian Men’s Hockey team for being crowned champions of the inaugural Hero @FIH_Hockey 5s,” Bindra tweeted.

“Conquering a fast-paced format which tested both fitness & skill shows how strongly we’re rising again in a sport we historically ruled!”

Bobby Singh Dhami (11′, 19′) and Mohammed Raheel (13′, 17′), who finished as the top goalscorer at the FIH Hockey 5s, netted twice, while Sanjay (8′) and captain Gurinder Singh (9′) also contributed to India’s victory.

Poland piled pressure on India with a three-goal cushion inside the first five minutes. India then responded to pull back two back-to-back goals through Sanjay and Gurinder to make the score 2-3 at the end of first half.

Bobby equalled the score for India at the start of second half. India went on to take a two-goal lead through Raheel in the match before Poland pulled one back. However, Bobby’s late goal minutes before the whistle helped India clinch a thrilling victory.
