Andy Murray has been forced to withdraw from the Queen’s Club Championship in London after picking up an abdominal injury during the recent Stuttgart Open.

The British star player suffered the injury while playing the final of the Stuttgart Open against eventual winner Matteo Berrettini of Italy.

Murray is a five-time champion at Queen’s, with his last victory coming in 2016. The 35-year-old’s movements were restricted in the deciding set when he called for the physiotherapist twice and received treatment at court-side before finishing the match 4-6, 7-5, 3-6 against Berrettini.

“The (Queen’s Club) tournament means a lot to me and it’s disappointing not to compete, especially after playing some good matches on grass already,” Murray said in a statement.

Murray still has two weeks to recover for Wimbledon, which begins on June 27. He last won a title at Wimbledon in 2016.
