The Argentine is expected to join the Turin-based club with Paul Pogba. Manchester United, on June 1, announced France’s Pogba would leave the club following the expiration of his contract. Pogba landed in Turin on July 8.
“For me it is a new step in my career. Very happy, very excited. From the moment I said yes, I’m seeing it on the first day, all the people here is like a family, all the time looking after you. That makes me very happy,” Di Maria said in a video shared by Juventus.
Di Maria, on May 31, said that he would retire from international football after this year’s World Cup in Qatar. He would, however, continue playing club football.
Juventus finished fourth in Serie A for a second consecutive season this year. The Turin-based club was knocked out of the Champions League round-of-16 for the third year in a row.
Di Maria played 121 matches for his national side and scored 24 goals. He netted the winner last July as Argentina beat Brazil 1-0 to win the Copa America and lift their first major title in 28 years.
