Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has suggested that Arshdeep Singh could be a fantastic option for the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup.
The left-arm pacer has been a consistent performer in the IPL for Punjab Kings and his exploits in the tournament helped him get a spot in the Indian squad for the Ireland tour and the first T20I against England.
In his debut game for the national team in Southampton, the left-arm pacer registered figures of two for 18 in 3.3 overs, including a maiden. During the second ODI against West Indies, many fans were unhappy that Singh didn’t make the cut for the starting lineup as India opted for Avesh Khan instead.
Many have already backed the 23-year-old to be in the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia and the latest to join the bandwagon is Kaneria.
On his YouTube channel, the former Pakistan spinner said that Singh could be a valuable asset for India in the World Cup and the Asia Cup in August. Kaneria also said that the 23-year-old will be in the lineup for the third ODI against West Indies.
“Mark my words. Arshdeep will play the third ODI and make an impact too. Arshdeep has the art, and he uses his mind while bowling. He bowls sensibly and knows how to take wickets. He can be a fantastic option for the Indian team for T20 World Cup and maybe for Asia Cup as well. Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and he can be successful being a left-arm pacer,” said Kaneria.
The former Pakistan cricketer also said that he would like to see T. Natarajan back plaing for India again.
“I want to also see Natarajan playing for India again. He can make an impact just like he did in Australia. He is a fantastic bowler, but India has currently got an incredible bowling lot. Team management has to decide how to utilize its bowlers,” said Kaneria.
