Pakistan captain Babar Azam has backed Virat Kohli to arrest his slump and regain his lost touch. On Thursday, July 14, Kohli started his knock with three cracking fours off Reece Topley, but found an outside to give David Willey his wicket during India’s second ODI against England at the Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Kohli got out after scoring 16 runs off 25 balls as India lost their third wicket with their score 31 while chasing 247. India went on to lose the match by 100 runs after being bowled out for 146 in 38.5 overs.
The 33-year-old Kohli has been straining for form over the last few months, but the Indian selectors have persisted with him in the national setup.
Earlier, Kohli played two T20Is against England in Birmingham and Trent Bridge, but failed to score big both times. Amidst his indifferent run of form, Babar reckoned that the Delhi-born batter will make a strong comeback and prove his critics wrong.
Babar took to Twitter and wrote, “This too shall pass. Stay strong. #ViratKohli.”

The third and final ODI of the series will take place on Sunday, July 17 at the Old Trafford in Manchester.
As far as Babar is concerned, he is now set to lead Pakistan in the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The red-ball series is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, July 16 at the Galle International Stadium.
Babar has been in excellent form over the last few months, especially in ODI and T20I cricket. He is also within touching distance of scoring 10,000 runs for the Pakistan national team across all three formats.
