Mohamed Salah on being Liverpool’s 9th highest scorer of all time: It is something I am proud of

Mohamed Salah said that he is proud to be in the top 10 list of Liverpool’s highest scorers of all time. The Egyptian forward sits in ninth place with a total of 156 goals in his 254 appearances for the Premier League club.

Ian Rush leads the chart with 346 goals, followed by Roger Hunt, Gordon Hodgson, Billy Liddell, Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler, Kenny Dalglish, Michael Owen, Mohamed Salah and Harry Chambers.

The 30-year-old Salah, who joined Liverpool in 2017, on July 1 signed a new long-term contract with the club. He was one of the key members of the club’s run last season, winning the FA and Carabao Cups and reaching the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool missed out on Premier League glory after falling short by one point to eventual champions Manchester City.

“It’s great to see yourself as the ninth-highest top goalscorer for the club, especially when you do it in a short time,” Salah told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s something great and I think, as I’ve said many times before, the most important thing is to win trophies. But I think when you score goals and help the team to win games, that’s also what brings trophies. It’s something I’m proud of.”

Salah reached the 31-goal mark during the last campaign and was also named the FWA Footballer of the Year and PFA Players’ Player of the Year.

Talking about losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid and missing out on the Premier League title, Salah said: “We had some disappointments, but this is football.

“I have enjoyed my football here at the club and, hopefully, I will continue to enjoy it and win many trophies.”
