Harmanpreet Kaur is set to become the all-time leading run-scorer for the Indian Women’s team in T20Is. The veteran has scored 2319 runs from 121 matches at an average of 26.35 and a strike rate of 103 with one century and six half-centuries to her name.
The Punjab-born cricketer is 45 runs short of Mithali Raj, who is currently the top run-getter for the Women in Blue. Mithali, who retired from all forms of cricket earlier this month, scored 2364 runs from 89 matches at an average of 37.52 with 17 half-centuries to her name.
Harmanpreet will have a chance to topple Mithali during India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. The three games will take place on June 23, 25 and 27 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
Harmanpreet has been a key player for the Indian Women’s team since she made her debut way back in 2009. She is the only Indian women’s batter to score a T20I century when she accomplished the milestone against New Zealand Women in the 2018 edition of the T20 World Cup in the West Indies.
Harmanpreet has recently been appointed as the ODI skipper after Mithali called it a day following India’s campaign in the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand. Recently, the veteran also captained the Supernovas to victory in the Women’s T20 Challenge at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Kaur and Co defeated Deepti Sharma’s Velocity by four runs in the final last month. Harmanpreet also has 68 wickets in international cricket to her name.
