  • Laxman will be accompanied by 3 NCA coaches to Ireland
  • India will play 2 T20Is in Ireland on June 26 and 28

VVS Laxman will be accompanied by Sitanshu Kotak, Sairaj Bahutule and Munish Bali for the 2-match T20I series in Ireland later in June. The National Cricket Academy coaches will join the head of NCA, who will perform the duty of the head coach and step in for Rahul Dravid, who will be overseeing preparations for India’s one-off Test in England.

India are set to play 2 T20Is on June 26 and 28 and the series will coincide with India’s preparations for the one-off Test, which is a spillover from last year’s series. India were leading England 2-1 in the incomplete Test series in England.

Notably, Rahul Dravid will be with the Indian Test team which will play Leicestershire in a warm-up match from June 24 to 27.

Kotak, who has been part of the India A set up earlier, will be the batting coach while Bali and Bahutule, who were part of the victorious U-19 World Cup campaign in the Caribbean earlier this year, have been handed the fielding and bowling duties.

Notably, the trio of NCA coaches has already joined the T20I team which is taking on South Africa, according to PTI.

The squad for the Ireland series is yet to be announced. India will field a team of primarily T20 specialists against Ireland but a full-strength squad is expected for the white-ball leg of England tour comprising three T20s and as many ODIs from July 7

“After the senior support staff departs for the England tour, Bali, Bahutule and Kotak will take over the duties for the remaining T20 against South Africa in Rajkot and Bengaluru. They have already been with the limited overs squad for a while and by the time the senior support staff leaves for England, they will be ready for the task,” PTI news agency quoted a BCCI official as saying.
